Boyarde is using designer handbags as canvas for her Pop Art. Collectors come from all over the world including London, Australia, Jordan, Paris, New York, Hong Kong and Belize to commission her work.

Featured inVogue Brasil, The Daily Mail, The Metro, Stylist Magazine, The Huffington Post, The Sunday Times Style Magazine,The Evening Standard, You Magazine, Harpers Bazaar Singapore, The Independent, Marie Claire Turkey, appearing on BBC Radio, andRussell Howard’s Good News and many more Boyarde has become famous in the recent past.

I personally asked her to customize a Hermes Kelly bag. So far she has done amazing work on Birkin´s but never on the iconic Kelly.

Currently she has a very large volume of painting requests so it takes time if you want her to create a design for your bag.

Boyarde Messenger is an acclaimed British artist whose works focus on the re-contextualisation of familiar imagery that addresses consciously or sub-consciously the female stereotype. Throughout the history of art, popular culture, and cinema, Boyarde puts her unique art stamp on the images and issues addressed by embracing the power of kitsch and its ability to convey strong messages through humour and frivolity.

Boyarde paints on everything but paper. She uses a variety of canvases from the human body to high-fashion bags and accessories. Boyarde is now introducing ‘Name Painting’ onto fashion accessories, allowing the client to have their name or initials custom painted onto their bag through an array of imagery from objects to people, making unique, personalised art / fashion accessories.

1. Outside of the EU the client can send their own accessory by mail or courier. The client is liable for the cost of shipping (to the UK) and insuring item up to their desired value. There is no import or export tax as long as the client uses Boyarde’s unique IPR code (Inward Processing Code). Boyarde will then return the finished item via FedEx or DHL with the same IPR code. Please note, Boyarde is not responsible for any loss of goods in transit. The item is only insured on its return up to the value provided by courier used. The client is liable for the cost of additional insurance to be agreed in advance.

2. The artist can purchase the desired item in the UK with a 15 % handling fee (subject to availability) to be personalised and sent to the client. The full cost of this is to be paid to the artist prior to purchase.

Pricing will vary depending on the size of the accessory and complexity of the design, but includes the return courier fee from the artist’s studio.

Example prices (June 2014, subject to change): Goyard St. Louis Tote size PM or Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM with standard detail design 1 side: £1350 2 sides: £1700 price varies with size of bag and level of detail in the design 35 Hermes Birkin for standard detail design 1 side: £1700 2 sides: £2100 LV Speedy 30 for standard detail design 1 side: £1350 2 sides: £1700 Please note – price varies with size of bag and level of detail in the design. Prices for second side are based on detail being less than main design.

Boyarde’s recontextualisation of familiar images from popular culture should not be mistaken for copy cat art. The client is free to choose an existing Boyarde design, with the ability to have it personalised more to the clients wishes. Parts of previous designs can be put together for a ‘pic n mix’ style. Or new designs can be created with input from the client, inspired by familiar and iconic imagery or created from scratch. Name Painting: This allows the client to have their initials or name personalised through imagery painted by Boyarde. All designs remain the intellectual property of the artist.

A rigorous process is undertaken to create your ‘Art Bag’, in which the artist uses the best quality materials for prepping and protecting the material. The standards of Boyarde’s painting and quality of materials used mean the art will last, but the bag should be treated with utmost respect as it now is an ‘Art Bag’ with a valuable work by the artist. Whilst all bags are subject to wear tear the artist is not responsible for the art once it is returned to the client.

Due to the artist’s participation in multiple art projects and commissions and high demand for custom fashion art accessories, the artist will aim to have your item returned within 6-13 weeks. This is subject to change.

Upon agreeing a brief and receiving a 30% deposit the artist will commence researching followed by sketching. Once artwork is approved, the client will send the item and painting can begin. Payment can be made by PayPal or International Bank Transfer (paypal additional 5% business paypal charge). The remainder of the agreed fee is payable before the finished item is returned to the client. Once payment is received it is non-refundable.

Boyarde describes her work as…

“…highlighting her playful personality injecting it with humour and mischievnous, whilst liberating the object of desire, admiring its form, yet still confirming the vital balance between power and vulnerablity.”

I strongly recommend you to follow her on Facebook and Instagram. She posts amazing pictures of her work on a regular basis.

Guess what guys, the Japanese Designer Issey Miyake is finally launching his famous Plissé design for men. I already took a look at the collection and want to share some of my favorite pieces with you.

In the late 1980s, Issey Miyake began to experiment with new methods of pleating that would allow both flexibility of movement for the wearer as well as ease of care and production. In which the garments are cut and sewn first, then sandwiched between layers of paper and fed into a heat press, where they are pleated. The fabric’s ‘memory’ holds the pleats and when the garments are liberated from their paper cocoon, they are ready-to wear.

Mr Miyake “oversees the overall direction of all lines created by his company”, even though the individual collections have been designed by his staff since his ‘retirement’ from the fashion world in 1997.

Bildschirmfoto 2014-07-26 um 11.41.26

I always liked “Pleats Please”, a sub brand of Miyake which produces pleated colorful pieces for women. In 1993, following five years of research, Miyake launched his flagship design concept: pleats. His permanently pleated clothes were meant to be functional, universal for the modern buyer, and accessible to a wide market. The pleats were made using Miyake’s innovative fabric technology. Single pieces of 100-percent polyester fabric were cut and sewn two- to three-times larger than the finished product. The pieces were heat pressed between two sheets of paper, a process that simultaneously created a permanent pleat, in either a vertical, horizontal, or zig-zag pattern, and created texture and form. Offered in a variety of seasonal colors, the clothes were light, flexible, and easy to care for.

Now Miyake finally launched HOMME PLISSÉ, the Pleats Please for men and the collection is promising.

569_0If you want to take great care of your skin without spending lots of money on beauty products we recommend you No.7 cosmetics from BOOTS. They offer a great skin care line for all skin types and have an amazing range of make-up. I personally started using No.7 about three years ago. No.7 provides great beauty products, not just for girls but also essentials for men which are just amazing and cost a fraction of what the big brands charge you.

When it comes to skin boys are not much different to girls. Don´t get me wrong, this is not about putting on make-up!!! But its important to use some essential skin care products that will keep your skin young and fresh. I am no expert on beauty products but I am a frequent user of No.7 and I will show you what I use…then you can make up your own mind.

I took a picture this morning when I woke up and one after 5 minutes in the bathroom with the essentials…

After your morning shower apply under eye cream. This will help you reduce dark circles and puffiness.

You might want to apply a serum to decrease the size of your pores or you use the blemish defense serum, deepening on what you need.

After you need to protect your skin. Yes, pollution but also sunlight and rain influence the appearance of your skin and let you age faster. I personally am not a big fan of spending hours in the bathroom so I always recommend No.7 CC-cream. No.7 offeres one of these amazing ALL-IN-ONE creams. It protects and moisturizes your skin all day long and also contains a light sunscreen and a very light pigmentation to even out your natural skin tone.

You can order all No.7 products online and I recommend you to always watch out for 3-for-2 deals!!!

If you feel uncomfortable with too much skin care I would like to refer you to this article I posted last month 😉

Pharrell Williams mit großer lila Tasche

Yes, why not?! Gazelle Paulo, lets agree to disagree on that one…

In 1981, Hermès chief Executive Jean-Louis Dumas was seated next to Jane Birkin on a flight from Paris to London. She had just placed her straw bag in the overhead compartment of her seat, but the contents fell to the deck, leaving her to scramble to replace them. Birkin explained to Dumas that it had been difficult to find a leather weekend bag she liked. In 1984, he created a black supple leather bag for her, based on an 1892 design. Thats how todays iconic bag was created.

Being the absolute statement of social class among women the Birkin has become increasingly  popular among men in recent years. Lets find out why and what you have to look out for when you consider shopping for your first Birkin yourself. Prices start just above 7.000 Euros.

While the Birkin on women looks good with almost any outfit men should wear it more casually. Wearing a Birkin with a suit and a trench coat makes you look weird. Wear it with lose jeans and a t shirt or relaxed Gym wear. This break between expansive bag classical bag and a relaxed sportive outfit makes you look chilled and stylish.

I personally almost never close my Birkin properly. Again, leaving the bag open and having maybe a cashmere sweater sticking out gives you the stylish edge.

Bildschirmfoto 2014-06-29 um 17.13.28

First let me tell you that the famous waiting list for the Birkin is bullshit. There is no waiting list. Its just way for Hermes sales people to nicely refuse to sell one to you. Generally speaking the shops have one Birkin/Kelly bag for sale per day but Hermes does´t want to only sell their most famous bag. They make higher margins on scarfs and other items in the shop. Thats why usually you qualify to be selected to buy a Birkin after you have been a loyal client at Hermes and bought other items before. My advice is:

Talk to someone who has already bought a Birkin at Hermes. The easiest way to get one is to be associated with a good client or someone who works at Hermes.

  • There is a variety of different leathers available at Hermes. I personally prefer Togo Leather, a scratch resistant leather that is made of baby calf leather. It has a defined soft pebbled finish that appears raised and feels smooth but grainy. Another amazing option would be Boxcalf, made of Calf Leather which is extremely smooth with a glossy finish. Scratches are more visible compared to the textured leathers but can be blended over time by light buffing. This is the oldest type of Hermes leather and frequently appears in Vintage bags.

Bildschirmfoto 2014-06-29 um 17.20.01

  • men should (regardless what hight) should only go for size 40, which is is the biggest size of the classic birkin. Smaller sizes make you look like you borrowed your girlfriends bag!

Bildschirmfoto 2014-06-29 um 17.29.44

  • big guys or guys who like it oversized should opt for the sac haut (Pharrell´s bag actually is a sac haute and not a Birkin)

  • stitching in the same color of the bag, makes it look more masculine and content

Bildschirmfoto 2014-06-29 um 17.37.00

  • might be a personal opinion but go for the silver hardwear, gold makes it look soft and feminine

Bildschirmfoto 2014-06-29 um 16.46.05

  • chose a color according to your personal taste and availability but stay away from too girly colors such as orange, pink and red. If you will only buy one Birkin I recommend to go for a color that mixes well with almost any outfit. My personal favorites are vert veronese, bleu de presse, cafe, vert gris, and noir.

Bildschirmfoto 2014-06-29 um 16.38.48

So overall I have to say men need to be careful when selecting their Birkin (in terms of size, color, details and styling) but when its done right the Birkin is a perfect every day bag for relaxed men enjoying an exclusive lifestyle… regardless wether on the subway or in a chauffeur driven limousine!

E-Tautz-SpringSummer-2015-Collection-London-Collections-Men-DerriusPierreCom-6This weekend all the high end fashion houses present their men´s spring-summer collection 2015 in Paris. The warm weather and the fact that some of the big brand abstained from providing proper air-condition literally resulted in the melt down of many celebrities and fashionistos. Bill Gates retro trend is coming. Men at Fashion week in Paris and spotted among the laid back California dudes in bright stripes and bootcut jeans were a couple of Bill Gates dopplegangers from the same ’70s-era. The retro nerd normcore parts of the style not only picked up on the computer programmer turned billionaire’s stereotypical science teacher eyewear, but also his heretofore unknown ability to mix patterned shirts with colorful sweaters.

However, it is a packed schedule if you want to attend all the shows this week!

Bildschirmfoto 2014-06-28 um 12.29.53

I personally have been to lots of fashion shows in Paris and London in the past couple of years and I have to say I am getting a bit tiered of all the pretentious fashion people pulling out their most ridiculous outfit to increase their chance of being noticed. But at the same time I totally understand. Actually I do the same. So here is my tip on what to wear during the fashion week.

If you are a bit shy but you always wanted to try a certain look then FW is your chance to try it out because the worst what can happen to you is that you are being judged as “one from the fashion show people currently in town”. So go crazy, colors, cuts, unusual combinations, crazy accessories or, all together! Wear what you always wanted to wear, be free.

The second option is to tone it down to the minimal. If you want to look like one from the industry all you have to do is, keep it simple and wear only black. Simple cuts, only one color, nude or no make up only sunglasses are allowed.

Now, lets take a closer look at what are the mens fashion trends for 2015. Here are the essentials:

  • High rise pants
  • Military style (uniform style, not camouflage!)
  • Shorts
  • Double breasted suits
  • Onesis
  • Leather, leather, leather

It will be retro for sure so pull up your pants and tuck your shirt in.

You can´t go wrong with military style. Military boots and uniform style jackets are a must-have for next year!

Also the classic shorts are back and don´t feel afraid to wear your suit with shorts.

Make sure you have a double breasted suit in your wardrobe if you want to be part if the fashion elite 2015.

louis-vuitton-springsummer-2015-collection-04And finally it seems as if the “onesi” has found his way to the runway. Next year you can walk the streets with your head held high in a one-piece by Louis Vuitton for example.

10464177_10154261656545125_8904934985073195314_nLast but not least, the leather trend is still continuing. Men are allowed to wear any piece of clothing made in exclusive skin. Don´t be afraid to combine a leather shirt with jeans shorts, or a leather blazer to boost your party outfit. For the more courages among you I recommend to combine the onesi with the leather trend.

Always keep in mind, whatever outfit you chose, make sure you feel comfortable with it! Fashion is supposed to make you feel great, not intimidate you.

It is THE trend since perm in the 80ies: OMBRÉ inspired by Lauren Conrad.

I will tell you my experiences and how hard it is to get the ombré look on your hair done.

My friend Max recommended me this hairdresser in Cap D’ail because he should be good with colors. I told the french guy in the barbershop I want the Ombré look and asked him if it is possible because my hair is natural blonde so he was supposed to dye my hair on the top darker to create the color gradient inspired by the natural highlighting through sunbathing. Of course I was prepared and showed him some pictures how it should look like. In the end I can tell you my hair had 10 different colors and brown lowlights in the ends. Also my cut was absolutely not symmetrical. It was a disaster. So another friend of mine recommended me another barbershop in the Monte Carlo Fairmont Hotel. I went there and this lady (she didn’t speak any word english) screwed it up, too. -of course I showed her pictures how it should look like and asked her if she is able to do it.- So in the end I was brown/red colored on the top of my head and my ends were bleached 2 times in one week and got the same color result than my usual hair color is. My ends were dry and thank you to the french hairdresser in Cap D’ail who thin out my hair with his special weapon I wasn’t supposed to tell anyone.

After these two disasters and spending a lot of money for nothing I went with my mum to the drugstore and bought one of these self made packs. It was the best result I got for just 6 Euros. Now my hair is blonde again and it is close to that hair color I had in the beginning but my hair is thinner, dryer and more broken than before.

So if you guys wanna get the Ombré look think twice or inform yourself in the internet and read recommendations about the hairdresser.

Plateau is not a must-have anymore. Plateau high heels in shrill colors: plateau goes; colors stay.

“Germany's next Topmodel - by Heidi Klum”

Of course it makes you look higher and your legs will look like these from Elle McPherson but Plateau is not a must have anymore. Of course there are some exceptions e.g. wedges or plateau sneakers but plateau on high heels is not a perfect match for this season.

You saw it on every fashion week this year: NO MORE PLATEAU HIGH HEELS. Trends change, every season a little bit so if you want to be up to date put these old fashioned shoes in the back of your closet and get room for your new favorites. YOU WILL LOVE THEM!

Today was the first time I saw the new electric BMW outside the dealership in Fontvielle. Finally there is a cool looking electric car for more than just two passengers.

BMW i3 design defines the automobile of tomorrow. Its innovative BMW eDrive power train was designed in the scope of the BMW EfficientDynamics technology and is not only locally emission-free, but also offers an incomparable and nearly silent driving experience. The intelligent BMW ConnectedDrive Services bring you easily and conveniently to your destination.

The BMW i3 opens a new chapter of a visionary design language for BMW tailor-made for electric vehicles. The innovative LifeDrive architecture with carbon passenger compartment provides an especially roomy feeling in the interior (in part thanks to the absence of a centre tunnel) and is characterised by the use of high-quality, sustainable materials. The aerodynamic exterior design with opposing doors, the characteristic black belt and large wheels create a dynamic impression about the BMW i3’s driving agility even when it’s standing still.

bmw-i3-interiorPrice for this exclusive little electric toy starts at 34.950 Euro…plus extras of course 😉
